Dojo Blessing Ceremony Blessing Ceremony Participants

Last week, our academy was honored to host a traditional dojo blessing, an event that marked an important milestone for Morumbí Jiu Jitsu Camarillo. This ceremony, led by priests from the Zenshuji Soto Zen Temple, carried with it a deep cultural significance that has been practiced for centuries in martial arts schools across Japan.

For our students—both seasoned practitioners and those brand new to Jiu Jitsu—the experience was deep. The blessing served not only to dedicate our academy as a place of safety, discipline, and respect, but also as a cultural journey into the roots of martial training. Students and families alike were able to witness how tradition, spirituality, and martial arts came together to create an environment that nurtures both the body and the spirit.

I am deeply grateful to Doshin and Yamada Sensei (visiting from Osaka, Japan) from Zenshuji temple for their time, guidance, and blessing. Their presence reminded us that the dojo is more than just a place to train techniques, it is a sacred space where values, etiquette, and community are forged.

This event will remain a memorable part of our academy's history and a foundation upon which we continue to build. With this blessing, we look forward to guiding our students in their practice of Jiu Jitsu with renewed purpose, discipline, and respect for the traditions that came before us.
